Now for something INCREDIBLY POSITIVE and heart warming.

YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS:

This is ghastly BUT there is a great lesson here.

This is ghastly but it is identical to the deeply disturbed sport we play when shop the meat section of the grocery store where we knowingly kill pigs cows chickens lamb turkey and even chow down on frogs legs.  The human is homicidal by nature, murderous and cunning.  These people are an extreme example of what we as a culture do every day at the grocery store except you see it as a horror because it's an elephant - outside of our paradigm of acceptable behavior.  Any meat eater is as culpable as this family.  If you eat animals you are guilty - and when I do,  ...SO AM I.  When I choose to eat animals I am no different than this insane family except this elephant may have had the luxury of living in a natural setting.  Farm animals, otherwise known as "livestock" do not command the same rights, protection, favor or affection as this poor elephant - but in the mind of God they do.  "Thou shalt not kill."  What the fuck to you think that meant?  Is this the one commandment we should ignore?  Or should we just ignore them all?  Oh, that's right WE DO.

We let the pathological money grubbing meat industry hide the slaughter from us and somehow our rationalizations WIN as we sit down to a juicy steak, chicken leg or pork tenderloin.  Yum!  OUR psychopathy, OUR hypocrisy is the enemy, not this poor misguided family in the picture or even the evil meat industry people.  FOR WITHOUT OUR CONSENT AND MONEY THEY HAVE NOTHING.  YOU PROTECT THE ANIMALS.  IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO DO SO AND NO ONE ELSES.  YOU ALONE AUTHORIZE THIS SLAUGHTER.

When you must have fish, how do you know it is clean? Here are some tips.

By: Kelley Herring, Healing GourmetShrimp Cocktail

Fukushima. The Gulf oil spill. Polluted fish farms. Genetically engineered salmon.

While seafood – and omega-3 rich fish in particular – has always been an excellent source of vital nutrients, widespread contamination has left many of us wondering…

What fish is safe?

Unfortunately, more than 90 percent of the seafood consumed in the United States is imported. What’s more, a report by Food & Water Watch, found that less than 2% of the 860,000 imported seafood shipments were visually inspected and less than 1% were actually tested for contaminants.

If that’s not enough, there is an industry-wide “bait-and-switch” that is occurring. Fraudulently labeled seafood is turning up in cans, restaurants and even in your local grocery.

In today’s article, I’ll show you how you can protect yourself from the health-harming contaminants found in seafood and the clean options that will provide you with power-packed nutrition.

“Fishy” Seafood and The Safer Options

#1 Imported & Farm-Raised Catfish: Also called Basa and Swam, almost 90 percent of catfish comes from Vietnam – a country with loose regulations on the use of dangerous antibiotics and other chemicals.

Safer Catch: Like catfish, pollock is a mild, white fish with a delicate flavor that’s naturally low in mercury. Look for pollock from the US, Canada and Norway which provide the most eco-friendly harvesting.

#2 Eel: Also called unagi, eel is primarily farmed in China.  Toxic nitrofuran – a powerful carcinogen – and many other drugs and pesticides are used to reduce the spread of disease in eel pens. Eel is also highly contaminated with mercury and cancer-causing PCBs.

Safer Catch: Swap eel for squid – an eco-friendly option that is low in contaminants, a great source of protein and easy to prepare.

#3 Atlantic Flatfish: These fish – including sole, flounder and halibut – are high in contaminants. They also have a long history of being overfished, contributing to the collapse of our oceans.

Safer Catch: Swap Atlantic halibut for Pacific halibut– a delicious option that’s environmentally friendly.

#4 Imported & Farm-Raised Shrimp:  One of the dirtiest seafoods sold is imported farmed shrimp. Chemical residues, antibiotics and an assortment of other contaminants have been found in farmed shrimp.

Safer Catch: While avoiding imported, farmed shrimp can greatly reduce your exposure to contaminants, it’s important to note that 70 percent of domestic shrimp comes from the Gulf of Mexico. With the recent oil spill, this raises concern for the health of these shrimp stocks. Your best bet is MSC-certified wild-caughtPacific shrimp from Oregon

#5 Farmed Atlantic Salmon: Due to cramped quarters, rampant disease and a steady diet of “fish meal”, farmed salmon is rife with chemical contaminants ranging from pesticides and antibiotics to PCBs. In fact, fish consumption data shows that 800,000 U.S. adults eat enough PCBs from farmed salmon to exceed the allowable lifetime cancer risk 100 times over! Also of concern is the FDA’s consideration to allow genetically engineered salmon to be sold, unlabeled, in the near future.

Safer Catch: Avoid chemical contaminants and “Frankenfish” by choosing only wild Alaskan salmon

#6 Atlantic Bluefin Tuna: According to the New York Times, Atlantic bluefin tuna have the highest levels of mercury and have reached near-extinction levels. Choosing more eco-friendly tuna varieties (like albacore or yellowfin) may not be the answer, either. Oceana  - a non-profit ocean protection group – collected 1,215 samples  from seafood vendors from 2010 to 2012. They found that 59% of tuna is not just mislabeled but it is almost entirely compromised of escolar - a fish once banned by the FDA.

Safer Catch: Swap tuna for smaller (but just as flavorful) Atlantic mackerel and sardines.  You’ll enjoy all of the health benefits of omega-3 rich fish, without the high levels of mercury and contaminants…not to mention questionable contents.

Keeping Healthy Fish on Your Plate and In Our Oceans

As the use of chemicals and unnatural agricultural practices soars to meet global food demand, it becomes increasingly more important to take a closer look at the origins of your food.

Know your farmer and your fishermen. Read labels. Ask questions.

While the health effects of these chemicals may not be immediately felt, their long term impact on human health is indisputable. Protect your health tomorrow by saying “no” to contaminated seafood today!

Why the Gerson Therapy is So Strict!

It's funny the Gerson lifestyle states clearly that any added salt other than that which is in your vegetables naturally is not good for any human being - EVER.  When you read about how cells breathe and how they do so by balancing potassium and sodium you begin to understand why they are so tight on this issue. When you think about it ancient man did not have salt shakers did they?  No, of course not.  Modern cuisine is amazing!  Stuff tastes so good it's like totally addictive!  And that's the point.  Man has created a lot of stuff that is awfully yummy but that is also very bad for us - in the view of Max Gerson VERY bad for us.  So when we get older we must remember that to live well over sixty some sacrifices must be made for our best buddy (our body) and to give back to it some love in the form of proper fuel (diet) in order for it to function nicely as we age.  See Charlotte Gerson (age 92 - sharp as a tack.)  Hugs.   Bill Z

For those who must give up Parmesan cheese fear not!

Cheesy sprinkle Parmesan recipe

1/2 cup nutritional yeast

1/4 cup raw almonds (see note)

1/4 cup raw cashews (or more raw almonds)

1/2 tsp (scant) sea salt (about ¼ + 1/8 tsp)

1/4 tsp lemon zest (optional)

Put all the ingredients into a standing blender and pulse until very fine and crumbly. Don’t overprocess, just pulse several times. That’s it! Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.  Makes about 1 scant cup

Adult-Minded: Try adding 1⁄8 teaspoon of onion or garlic powder.

Kid-Friendly: I make this often for our kiddos, and make it quick and simple using just the nooch, nuts, and salt. You may enjoy added flavor depth from the zest, but it’s not essential.

Savvy Subs and Adds: To make this mixtre nut free, substitute the almonds and cashews with: 3 tbsp hemp seeds, 1 tbsp chia seeds (preferably white chia), and 1 tbsp pumpkin seeds (or sesame or sunflower).  Voila!

-----

Brazil nut Parmesan imitation cheese

1½ cups brazil nuts (see notes)

½ tsp (little scant) sea salt

1 ½ tbsp nutritional yeast

1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

Preheat the oven to 275°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.  Process the brazil nuts in a food processor or blender until fine and crumbly. Don’t overprocess, or they will begin to heat and become pasty. Just pulse until finely crumbled.  Spread on the prepared pan. Toss in the salt, nutritional yeast, and lemon juice. Use your fingers to work these ingredients through the crumbled nuts.  Place in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, being sure to toss three or four times through the baking process (and check during last minutes of baking; the mixture should become dry and maybe a touch golden around the edges, but should not brown). Remove from the oven, let cool, and transfer to a container to refrigerate. Makes about 2 cups.

If This Apron Could Talk: If you cannot eat brazil nuts, I would substitute 1 1/2 cups raw almonds.  You could also try about 1 1/4 cup of almonds along with 1/4 cup of pine nuts.  After trying this for the first time, you might want to double your batch the next time round. It can disappear quickly! It’s one of my husband’s favorites; in fact, he keeps saying, “You should bottle this up and sell it”!

Kid-Friendly: Your little ones might love this just the way it is, but you can try bumping up the nooch another tablespoon to make it a little more cheesy. Also see Cheesy Sprinkle (recipe follows) for a cheesier-tasting topping.

Serving Suggestions: Any tomato-based pasta sauce will welcome this seasoning, as will a very modestly dressed pasta, such as one with olive oil and lemon juice. This topping works wonders on salads, and adds crunch and depth to cooked rice and other grains, as well as simple bean preparations.

When you simply must have fish!

Bronzino nova Scotia Canada European Seabass

It is rated as a best choice by the monterey bay aquarium seafood watch program. One can search their website for recommendations on any seafood. Same species of fish have more or less mercury, depending on where the fish is coming from. Good info at... http://www.montereybayaquarium.org//cr/seafoodwatch/web/sfw_factsheet.aspx?fid=384.

Why most people are full of it! Don't be a dick - don't be full ofshit!

Why most people are full of it!

I've got an exercise for you. For the next seven days, make a concerted effort to count how many people with whom you come in contact who end your conversation with "I'll call you," or "Let's get coffee!" or "We should connect for a drink!"

In two weeks, go back and visit the list you made, and see how many of them followed up on their suggestion.

The answer will more than likely be "none."

We live in a world where 99% of the people you meet are full of shit. It just is. It's not up for debate, it's not a scientific fact, it just is. I think this is the case for several reasons, but the most logical one is as follows: We all want to be thought of as "The nice guy." Ironically, by doing this, we usually come across as full of shit, as opposed to the nice guy. If we play the nice guy role in the beginning "Call me! Happy to help!" Or "Let's get coffee!" and then never follow up, or cancel plans, or never answer the resulting email, not only are we blowing our "nice guy" persona, but then we're proven as even worse than a "not nice guy," we're proven to be full of shit. At least if you're not nice and honest, you're true. But being nice on the surface and never returning the call moves you from "nice" to "not nice" to "full of shit." And that's the worst place to be.

Others are full of shit because they only look out for themselves, feel the need to attempt to win by taking everyone else down, or simply put, just don't care. Whatever the reason, just look around - there's no doubt we're living in a world full of people who are just full of shit. I'm on an Amtrak as I write this, and the guy next to me just got off his phone with a "OK, you too - Totally have to get together, no doubt, I'll call you!" He hangs up, and under his breath, as he's shaking his head, he mutters, "douche."

So if that's the case, there's one really awesome thing you can take out of it. If everyone is full of shit, it's never been easier to be at the top of your game and own the playing field. Think about it - It's the same logic as the kinda-thin girl who hangs out with fat girls - By comparison, she looks hot. If everyone else spends their time disappointing everyone else, all you have to do is rise 1% above the fray, and you win it all.

So here's how:

1) Exceed relatively low expectations. Again - We don't expect much out of people anymore. Used to be we'd expect stellar service on all counts - Whether it was the windshield being washed when we pulled up to the gas station, or our meal being brought to our table - that's pretty much gone nowadays.

Sure, it's awesome to set the bar totally high and exceed it. And I'm not saying don't do that. But focus on building your reputation piece by piece. If you don't want to have coffee with someone, don't suggest it as you're saying goodbye after your first meeting. If you DO want to have coffee with someone, why not suggest a Skype call, and when you email to follow up, upgrade it to coffee. Start off low and grow quickly. It's the easiest thing in the world to do.

2) Do "unexpected followup" daily. I have a big, big stack of business cards. Probably over 3,500, 4,000 cards. These are people I've met once, usually at a conference or trade show. They're not "contacts," per se, but they're also not complete strangers. I keep these cards in a giant fish bowl on my desk, where people who don't constantly worry about their weight would keep candy. Each day, I pull ten cards out, and email the people on them, just to say hi. No selling, not even that much talking about me - Just asking about them. How are they, what are they working on, etc. This keeps me "top of mind," and does two other things: Brings some of those people from "quasi-contacts" to "clients," and as beneficial, makes me first in their mind when someone they know asks if they know anyone who does what I do. Added bonus? I get to say hi. Nice touch.

3) Do the little things no one else does. You have any idea how many times I show up at early morning meetings with donuts? I call it "Insta-Hero." It's incredibly easy to be the Insta-Hero. Show up to an early morning meeting with Donuts. Make sure there's a full bowl of candy on your desk when people come by. ALWAYS carry a pen, a stick of gum, and a lighter. (And not just for people who smoke - Lighters can act as a scissor and burn down a loose thread, among millions of other uses.) Be the one who always does the little things, and you'll be the one people turn to when they have a budget to spend.

4) Find out what people are doing. If you had any idea on how many people I have Google Alerts, you'd call me the King of Stalking. But in fact, those alerts are one of the most helpful tools in my arsenal. Someone gets quoted? Drop a congratulatory note. Someone gets promoted? Send cookies. Someone takes a new job? Send a six pack. It's not hard, doesn't cost a lot, and keeps you well above the fold of mediocrity. Why? Because no one else does it. Again - When most people are full of shit, it doesn't take that much to not be! So don't be! Everyone wins! (Especially you!)

5) For God's sake, if you do nothing else, just be nice! A smile goes a hell of a long way towards proving you're not full of shit. Just by being a touch nicer - Offering to help someone put their bag in the overhead compartment, letting the obviously time-crunched person go ahead of you at Starbucks… You never know where these small, innocent acts can lead - But yo do know this - If they lead anywhere, they start off with the other person believing you're in fact, NOT full of shit - And from there, it's up to you to keep proving that.

An Excellent Overview of Why We Need Iodine

The intake of iodine from plants harvested on japanese-style traditionally-prepared soil is 12.5mg a day (the farmers use seaweed in composting) [I don't remember the source of this citation but it was good enough at the time for me to memorize it]. North americans, mainland europeans, and others with low soil levels of iodine, only get about 0.030 to 0.070mg of iodine per day [again, see note].

About Saying NO

Permission to say no to anything that’s not serving YOUR core values.
You Have the Right to Defend Your Life
You are entitled to say NO to the things that will directly hurt you: fire, jumping off a building, drinking poison, overdosing. People readily say no to something as extreme and dramatic as fire. But other No’s are more subtle. It might be harder to say no to cigarettes, alcohol, or toxic relationships. You decide what you say no to. Nobody else does. You Have the Right to Healthy Relationships and Real Love

Fwd: I get this question a lot. "What does Charlotte Gerson think of Dr. Patrick Vickers?"

What does Charlotte think of Dr. Patrick Vickers?

To which I answer…

"I never asked Charlotte what she thought of Dr. Vickers. What I do know is that she trained Patrick in the mid-1990s at her home in San Diego. After that I really don't know what happened except that she believes the Gerson therapy should not be modified. Her reasoning escapes me as it does Dr. Vickers. I remember asking the doctor at the Gerson Institute if the therapy could be advanced? And she said not that she was aware of. Now, Dr. Gerson himself in the development of the therapy tried many new things including Coleys therapy that he was in the process of possibly approving as an adjunct to the Gerson therapy.  Now from what I can ascertain logically in a sociopolitical business sense is the Gerson Institute needs to protect all of their existing documentation which is pure Dr. Gerson technology as it existed in 1959 when he died.  Very little or nothing has changed. It does not allow for anything new or advanced to be added to the therapy. It has become institutionalized and they don't modify it if they do not have too. However there are advanced therapies that complement the therapy but since it is not part of the doctrine and existing trainings offered by the Gerson Institute it becomes a problem for them when science reveals excellent technologies that add to the therapy much-needed power to tackle stronger and stronger cancers that become more virulent

Aging and energy, by Bill Zimmermann

As we age we should all be able to maintain excellent powers of concentration endurance and focus. Every time we begin to think that these will diminish we set ourselves up for them but it is absolutely not necessary. Prevention as an all degenerative diseases applies also to the mind. When we focus our attention on maintenance in terms of maintaining our sharp edge we can do so we can even recover a sharp edge lost. Certainly diet and exercise are important but we also need to understand the role of work problem-solving and responsibility to others in the act of maintaining and preventing psychological mental and spiritual decline.

Every year new drugs are developed to help humanity. Sometimes they're good sometimes they're not so good but occasionally a drug comes to the surface that helps us exponentially. Stimulants that do not damage the nervous system are at the vanguard of this new technology of alertness. Stimulants like modafinil and Provigil hold great promise for seniors but they are not widely known or promoted for senior health. It is suspected that many Silicon Valley executives take modafinil every day. While we cannot prove this to be true it is also likely to be true as the grapevine appears to repeat this aleged fact over and over again.

Quite often therapies that work well or never never make it to your doctors office. Why this is nobody knows. Exotic therapies like Jim Humble's MMS CDS hallucinogens and others never make it to your doctors office yet they have efficacy as elegant as their capacity to cure malaria and other astoundingly difficult diseases for pennies. These products don't make it to market and they remain illegal in many countries because they compete with expensive pharmaceuticals that do not want their pockets picked. These companies influence Congress and law. The people are denied many therapies that can help them. One of the most significant therapies that has been ignored for over 30 years is hallucinogen therapy for psychological illnesses and dependencies on drugs. Certainly that is the only the beginning of the potential therapies for hallucinogens. Today is teams are being put together that are testing once again hallucinogens for their potential to QR psychological disorders addictions and other difficult diseases of the mind and the heart and the soul. We look forward to the results from these in the lifting of laws preventing the use of them by responsible citizens.

Drugs like modafinil and Provigil also hold great promise but when they were advertised as stimulants for executives the law came down on them and actually find the companies and force them to keep those drugs relegated to use for narcolepsy. While this genie got out of the bottle and the toothpaste is well out of the tube we cannot go back. We know that these drugs help humanity and that there are more drugs and natural compounds to come, nature at its best helping man like ayahuasca. Auahuasca therapy could be a boon to mental health in our country and all over the world. But the powers that be see it as a threat. How could something that has been used to expand consciousness for thousands of years picking set her to threat? Well, I will leave it to Graham Hancock and Terence Mckenna to fill in those blanks for you.

This article is about waking up to the fact that our physicians do not have our best interest at heart and quite often their hands are tied by laws that prevent them from growing as well. Well meaning physicians hands are tied. It's not always that they are under educated but also they are censored and affected by laws which make it impossible for them to treat people effectively went perfectly wonderful science is bringing to us drugs that really work.

For mental health to prosper in this country and around the world we are going to need another paradigm. We need to trash the entire mental health structure dismantle it and rebuild it. This old dynasty must go. For nothing I have seen in my lifetime that psychology or psychiatry has offered to me personally and others I know-have all been let down by toxicity poor efficacy and downright poisoning. Prozac is 70% plus fluoride. What on earth is that about?

Food for thought please leave a comment.

The other 50% of healing

When confronted with cancer our journey takes us into very dark places not only within the medical establishment but within our days, our dreams and into fear the likes of which we may never have confronted before. Much like letting go of people after they pass we must in the exact same manner let go of cancer. We acknowledge it confront it and then with the help of stillness meditation and yoga we let it go. We let it go sooner rather than later because it is fundamental to the internal homeostasis, balance of cancer cells to normal cells and the return to health by way of and understanding of the other half of what it is to cure cancer and degenerative diseases.

To create ourselves in the moment we must take responsibility for proper vision within the moment. To dissolve the tumor is to envision it gone in the moment, being well, being whole and having healed takes place in the NOW not in the past. Right now. This is fundamental because it is how we create our current reality and our health. It is the "Chi Lel" or what is more easily remembered us medical tai chi but brings us closer and closer to healing. Compound that with formal yoga practice and we become a formidable force against all degenerative diseases especially cancer. Instead of racing for the cure we stop in stillness for the cure. No metaphor and no simile could be more exacting or more succinct.

The yoga of cancer demands we move into the present and remain there rejecting all duality all ego all materialism all western culture along with all of its borderlines boundaries and conflict. All these emotions, right wrong good bad all the extremes are the body's response to a toxic world and is directly associated with the creation and growth of cancers as well as many other degenerative diseases.

We must let them go and create the absence of disease in the present moment. As we cleanse with juices healthy meals and coffee enemas we find ourselves moving into the moment and the stillness especially during the time of a retention enema, we are isolated and forced into the moment. Reflection in this moment is the beginning of the yoga of cancer within the process of the Gerson therapy. In this process we are given the opportunity to see ourselves and watch from a vantage point outside of ourselves a place perhaps we have never seen before. We literally go outside of ourselves and look within perhaps for the very first time. This is the beginning of the spiritual side of healing and is half the battle when we practice successful healing within the Garson therapy. It is where the other half of healing comes from it is that which food enemas and juicing cannot heal. This is the yoga aspect of Gerson. It's the other 50%.
